Rolling Stone - Fricke's Picks, David Fricke.
' Capsula a kinetic trio from Bilbao, Spain - singer-guitarist Martin Guevara and bassist Coni Duchess, the band's founding couple, are originally from Argentina - who were supposed to be obsessed with the Velvet Underground (according to a newspaper preview) but were actually a high-velocity union of the Cramps and the Who, coated in corroded glam. Guevara attacked his guitar with a serious case of Pete Townshend, and drummer Alberto Diez was an improbable mix of Keith Moon and the Velvets' Maureen Tucker: flash with heartbeat. In the last song of the set, a furious space-out that sounded like the Who doing Pink Floyd's 'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun,' Guevara swallowed his mike Lux Interior-style and scraped his guitar strings along the edge of the stage. You don't get those visuals with Capsula's new album, Rising Mountains (BCore), but you get the idea - and everything I heard.'
Pitchfork
'Capsula sounded alternately like straight-up scuzzy garage punk and like Death Valley 69-era Sonic Youth if Kim Gordon sang all their stuff. Pretty good! And I definitely wouldn't have heard them if they weren't playing so loud'

Ignacio Julia. Ruta 66.
'There is something tangibly atavistic in the sound that Capsula conjure on stage, a basic electrical pulse that protects you from external contamination in an invisible amniotic warm folds. Something that can not be simulated, something that emerges naturally from those who metabolize an expressive task that without it, their lives would have no meaning or vertex, those who like them follow the unpredictable course that will mark a path where there is only a next direction, never a trace left. "
"They have bottled such tremendous vibration in Rising Mountains (Bcore, 2009), an expansive exorcism of psychedelic, looking to the height to rise above the everyday mundane life'
'The umpteenth verification that, alas, everything is just temporary and to capture the moment, no longer to apprehend it, is the only possibility.'

If one were to create a mathematical formula for the level of a band's awesomeness, it would need to include factors such as: 'Amount Of Guitar Noise,' 'Exoticness Of Members,' and 'Ratio Of Punk Influence To '70s Rock Influence.' Run Capsula's numbers, and the result is: Highly Awesome. An analysis of these results reveals: Extremely High Potential To Blow You Away.
'Amount Of Guitar Noise' equals motherloads - 'Wild C' is replete with the roaring of motorcycles, and 'The Sea Cave' drives drunkenly along a dirt road. 'Exoticness Of Members' equates to plenty. Founding members Martin Guevara and Coni Duchess live in Bilbao, Spain, but are originally from Buenos Aires.
'Ratio Of Punk Influence To '70s Rock Influence' is one-to-one. Duchess' vocals on 'Fighting With Tigers' is full-on riot grrrl, while the acoustic guitars are psychedelic. Factor in her 'Huh!' at the beginning of 'Girl! Whip Up the Sound' and the increasing catchiness of Rising Mountains on each subsequent listen, and it's clear: Capsula will rock not just your world but more than likely, the whole world.

A Decouvrir Absolument (France)
'Already discovered by using a first explosive album, the trio, from Bilbao and Argentina, returns with a disc that is more than climbing to an initiatory spiritual graal. 'Rising Mountains' is initially a hard rock, a true tradition in the bass drum. From this tradition the trio has kept a spirit of rebellion, a mix of drive and response to a defined system, and corolaire infects our lives. Certainly too close to the trio injected a scent is almost sixties on some titles, as if Blondie met in the Sonic Youth Dirty. Not on the defensive, never in the draft, proudly boasts a stunning, especially when it comes to sing a 'Wild C' explosive. Full of surprises, this album manages to not fall into the routine. Fully opened, Capsula even managed the feat of mixing time to a Kraftwerk and Joy Division, with a small division, but a result sublime (Magnetic Brain). Confirmation of our first meeting, the 'Rising Mountains' should establish a relationship over the long term, made explosive and deserved pride. The rock there is a new Mecca on a mountain, a place of joy and pride involved. Enorme.

'...The trio from Bilbao returns to let us clear that they go for it. This new album goes from the most furious punk to the pure rock and roll via psychedelia and noise, but posts to highlight a side of the band we love the heartbreaking one that makes you vibrate in their live shows... We do not know, during the listening to their new album, what these guys (Capsula) have that hooks so easily...The album passes through moments of minimun truce with songs like 'Mountains Rising' or 'The Sea Cave', to return to their rockier side with lashes as 'Magnetic Brain', 'Wild C' or the impressive 'Flood' that makes clear their strong sound and energy song after song'

'Capsula are placed on top of the rock and roll. The current musical moment of Capsula is comparable to any moment of the good international rock bands'
'Its is not strange that in this level, a renowned Catalan label, such as BCore, saw the band playing live and immediately invited them to join their team. In 'Rising mountains' they play r'n'r with roots going through different escapes and colors. All very rich, varied and consistent. Fun and fantastic from start to finish. An energetic and adjusted trio for whom the rock has very few secrets and no doubts'

Muso's Guide - Album Review
'... the second album from Capsula (late of Buenos Aires, now waiting to conquer the world from Bilbao), succeeded in grabbing my attention right from the start.
Singing in English the three-piece (two guys and a girl) have a great sound that features elements of The Mono-Men ('Found And Lost'), Monster Magnet ('Wild C', criminally too short) and Sonic Youth in Krautrock mode ('Magnetic Brain').
The main fact is they're one of those great bands that sound like all their influences at virtually the same time and yet concoct a sound all of their own from out of that sonic soup, totally contradicting song number nine 'Original Is Dead' in the process.
Fourteen cuts grace this release and the pace doesn't let up except on the garage blues of 'The Sea Cave' but the guitar solo therein more than compensates by keeping the listener keyed-up for the delights that follow in the second half of the album. Yet another great Hispanic musical contribution to this summer's soundtrack from BCore records.'
